Can the DNC really exclude florida nad michigan, is it even legal?

Can the democratic party legally exclude Florida and michigan, if voting is protected by the US constitution as a basic right? The Constitution has two specific amendments which mention voting rights specifically.

Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the state where in they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the U.S. nor shall any state, any person deny the pursuit of life, liberty and property without due process of law; nor denying persons with in its jurisdiction of the equal protection of the laws.

Amendment XXVI


Section I. The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age and older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state.


Even if the two democratic candidates agreed to exclude these states should the DNC arbitrarily decide because of violation of their own rules,punish voters in Florida and Michigan who have no control over their State democratic parties decisions to make changes which would disinfranchised both states.


In a primary where the votes are so close all votes should be included.

Democratic party destroying their chances of winning this fall

Many in the media such as commentators from MSNBC and Cnn have constantly called for Hillary Clinton to get out of this primary. Always referring to the delegate math and she can’t catch up ever. Some personal snipes at Hillary Clinton by commentators such as Toobin and Gergen on CNN who made suggestions that kentucky voters are all racists, because of a poll where about 20% of kentucky voters said race did influence their vote and who will not vote for a black man, and that Hillary should tell those voters that she refuses to accept their votes because it’s solely based on race. They characterized that voters who vote for hillary as racist, uneducated, low income whites and that voters of barack obama are highly educated and affluent whites.

The media has been very unfair to the Clinton’s because they have been accused of being racists and dividing the party when many ignore that barack obama is getting about 91% of the black vote in states with a high african American state. Hillary’s voters are racist and his voter’s aren’t , I guess because the media during these exit polls did not ask any barack obama voters if race had anything to do with their vote.

The Democratic Party are ignoring the Quinniac university poll where it shows Hillary beating McCain in Ohio and Florida by 47% to 41% and in Pennsylvania both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would beat McCain but Hillary has higher number of 51% to 44% and obama’s 47% to 45% .

The Democratic Party and Howard Dean is to blame for this mess, the DNC’s way of dividing delegates by Congressional districts won in that state’s primary, and having a higher number of delegates needed than the Republican party and finally excluding two of the most important states in general elections such as Florida and Michigan.

The Republican Congress decided to push up the primary date for the Democratic Party and registered Democrats have to be penalized for something beyond our control. The republicans have a simpler way of getting the nomination and the Democrats have a more complicated way of calculating the votes of primaries.

This is a wake call for the DNC to change their system and to prepare a model which would declare a nominee even when the votes are so close.

The super delegates if they are so sure of their nominee then why not come out and make their choice before this goes any further. Personally, I think the wrong candidate will be chosen as the nominee and we are heading to a bigger loss than Kerry. The lack of leadership of Howard Dean and these super delegates tell the indecisiveness and the pressure that these super delegates are receiving from the DNC to support Obama.

Recycling and Reusing items during these hard times

I have always felt guilty about throwing out items which have no real practical use any longer and which affect our environment and wind up ultimately at our landfills.

I have come up with some non creative ways to save some of our plastic containers and those meat packaging cartons from landing in landfills at least right away.

Large milk gallons and 2 liter coca cola bottles, if you do not live in an area which accepts those two liter bottles for recycling, for example: the NYC area pays 5 cent deposits back on each plastic bottle returned and in some supermarkets there are plastic vending machines which accept these bottles and you get the money inside the supermarket at the cashier. I live in a central rural part of Florida and the supermarkets do not pay for the recycling of plastic bottles or anything, they just have bins which may not be much of an incentive for people to recycle.

Instead of throwing those plastic milk gallons and coca cola bottles, wash them out well, glue the lids or attach them well to the plastic items again, drill small holes to the lids about 5 of 6 to create a spout from the lid, then cut the milk gallon or coke bottle in half. If you have a garden, take the half which has the lid attached, bury it with the lid facing down in the ground and the cut half exposed plant it next to a plant or tree, fill the bottle or gallon with water, this will create a slow irrigation system for your plants, they will always remain watered because it will create a drip system instead of purchasing irrigation systems, make your own home grown irrigation system and help stop these items from going into the landfill.

I have started to take the grocery supermarket card Styrofoam and re using them after cleaning them out with dish washing liquid and Clorox wipes. I took a small carton and placed some sticker letting around it and made a mini message center to store some pens and notepad next to the phone. As for the larger card Styrofoam I used it to season meats and as a breader when using flour, instead of using plates or buying one from Tupperware, I will use it about 3 or 4 more times before discarding it and then taking the next one which becomes empty.

As for glass jars, I reuse them after removing all of those labels on them with Dif or dish washing liquid, clean and sterilize the bottles for over two days before drying them and using them. I take spaghetti bottles, mayonnaise bottles, salad dressing and even large plastic clear pork rind containers from Sam’s club and use it to store rice. I make out labels because I buy two kinds of rice long grain and medium grain. This works out great, I don’t have to buy any decorative containers because if I choose I can decorate it myself or just keep it out of sight in the cup boards. I make my own vinaigrette dressings and NY onion condiment which I make with hotdogs on occasion. Mainly, I use the glass bottles to store craft beads and paint brushes for crafts and DIY projects. I decoupaged a glass bottle and made a unique q tip dispenser out of it, if you have a creative hand and can re-use these items instead of throwing them out.

I take those card board boxes which your bank checks arrive in and reuse them, as drawers organizers, they are great to put in kitchen drawers or desk drawers to organize small items such as keys, key chains, plastic credit cards, paperclips, rubber bands and etc…. You get the general idea.

If this is too extreme, find out ways you can possibly make extra pocket change and save the environment as well, there are areas which have many different types of recycling available in your area. For example, many items can be recycled such as spare tires, old tires, batteries, old computers and electronics, cell phones, aluminum cans, plastics, not all types, glass, stainless steel, copper and many more items. In Florida, at least in the area I live in, recycling is voluntary, it is not mandatory at the housing association we are in, instead there are a few recycling areas you can drop off items but you don’t earn any cash. A lot of times , they very out of the way and not convenient, so if you live near a recycling place which takes these items or perhaps you can find a company online who may buy these items, they usually cater to commercial accounts.

Before using them, you should try going online to the supermarket websites in your local area and look at the circulars online, some have coupons in them.

If you get those manufacturer coupons, use them during a sale your local supermarket may have, I remember once I had a manufacturers coupons for Kellogg’s corn flakes, the large cereal box and it said 50 percent off retail price. I had gone into the local Publix, and they had a buy one get one free offer, the cereal was about 4.99. I went up to the register and bought the cereal with the coupon and spent about 2.65 with tax and got another box of cereal free, the cashier said I got a great deal. Imagine, how much you can save if you have the coupons and you go in during your weekly sale. You can do this with all of your items but you can do this with the main staples.

If you prefer brand name groceries such as general mills, Kellogg’s, ronzoni and etc, then manufacturer coupons can help but if you really want to save on your grocery bill consider buying store generic brands such as thrifty maid from Winn Dixie, Great American value from Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s and etc. The Dollar store has great deals where you can buy items 99 or less and you don’t need any coupons.

Mapquest not only offers the easiest ways to find your way around the city or the country. Mapquest has a new free feature where you just enter your address or place of business and all of the prices of all of the surrounding gas stations around your area will appear along with the last recorded prices. Some of the gas stations have a two day date recorded but the phone number of the station is listed and you can call to ask what price they have as of the current date. This is a great way to get prices nationwide especially if planning a long trip or you can’t really get around to search yourself.
